What to swap lexus is200 for?

I am looking to sell my lexus is200 on a 2000 w reg and buy something just as good in terms of looks and features (a/c, leather if poss, e/w, etc.) but a bit more economical. I have looked at 2001/2002 reg mondeo tdci zetecs so whats anyones view on those. I'm only 22 so want something that looks good.
I really don't want to sell it but its costing me a fortune in petrol. Any ideas what i can get for same money (£2000 - £2500)?
 
I agree with William D, the mondeo might be quite a handsome car, but it's dismally boring.

The IS Lexus is a fantastic car, it'd be criminal to swap it for a Ford! Fords are cheaply built, mass produced cars, whereas Lexus's (Lexii) have bulletproof Japanese build quality, and are more exclusive than Fords.

The list goes on, don't do it!
