Hey guys..

what are some of the things to look for when buying a new bike *****from a dealer********.. I mean regarding the number of miles that can be on the bike or anything else for that matter...

please clarify you speak of new bike but the miles on it? do you mean new to you? and as far as the mileage if your talking used it depends on the bike if your talking 10000 miles on a 2009 848 that is a little high but if your talking 10000 miles on a 2003 999 that isn't bad...

Wow.. amazing.. let me rephrase the question...

What to look for when buying a new bike from a dealer?

If it would have been a used bike, I would have asked so ...

There are certain things you look for when buying a new car from a dealer.. like you look over the car for paint imperfections, less than 10 miles on the odometer...and not like 100 miles on the odometer...and so on..

I was looking for similar things in a bike...

What miles are usually on a new bike.. I want to make sure that the bike has not been joy driven by the mechanic @ the same time I understand they have to test drive the bike after putting it together..

So what mileage did you guys have when you bought your new bike from the dealer..

They typically come from the factory with ~2 miles on them from final test on the rollers. The dealer has to road test them to assure everything is ok and functioning. I'd say approx 5-7 would be a good number.

Personally I wouldn't care if it had 20 miles on it. If they noticed something amiss and had to fix and re ride it that's all good. As long as all is well with it I would be a happy camper.
