what to look for in a high mileage car?

im helping my girlfriend shop for her first car. were trying to stay in the $1500 range, and there are some decent cars in our area, but they are mostly 150,000 miles and up.

what should i watch out for in cars like these?
shes a girly girl, not gonna beat on the car (but i might)
 
First, I would get a vehicle history report on any used car you're thinking of buying. Then, once you decide on the one you're most likely to buy, i would ask the person or dealer you're buying it from to have the car checked out by a mechanic to make sure it's a good, safe car. If the mechanic says it's a good car, and you and your gf are satisfied with it and the way it drives, then I'd go with that one. Good luck!
