What to Feed My Betta Fish?

I bought a beautiful male Betta - he spits out flakes and pellets - but loves the bloodworms. I know you shouldn't feed just bloodworms, so what's a mother to do?
I tried breaking up the flakes, even to the point of being itty bitty crumbs - he just doesn't like them. I just brought the pellets home tonight and he spits them out too. He doesn't seem to nibble on the plant roots either. I've had dogs and cats that aren't this picky! My other Betta was never this picky either!
 
Have you thought about crisps? They are like flakes but smaller and crispier. I had a Betta that loved the crisps. I'd say it won't eat the flakes and pellets cause they are too big, try breaking them up a little and putting them in your tanks with a little bit of blood worms and get him to eat it. Try some other frozen fish like brine.
