I have a mosquito (citronella) plant. The plastic marker that came with it said to bring it in before the first frost. We, in Vancouver Canada have had a very long fall and although i know it's been cold and rainy at night, don't think it's frosted yet. I brought in my plant back in early Oct. when it started getting really cold thinking that frost was imminent.
It's not doing very well. I water it, just a little, and it turns brown and yellow. I water it a lot, it turns yellow/brown. I keep it dry, and it turns yellow and brown. It was a very full plant when i brought it in, now it's quite sparse. It still gives off quite an aroma. I'm wondering if i could put it outside my front door under the awning (no front porch, per se) that it would be ok. It gets a little mid-day sun and i'm thinking that it might be protected from frost under the awning. I would certainly bring it in if it were going to snow. Do you think it would come back if i did this OR do you have any suggestions how to keep it from turning yellow/brown and dying if i keep it inside?
Also, if i put it outside, how much should i water it? It might get rained on, depending on how the rain falls (straight down or at a slant).
