I pulled in a gas station today and pulled my parking brake and heard a snap/pop and now my parking brake lever has no tension and is not engaging my parking brake. My uncle told me that is was the parking brake cable. When I called a local mechanic, he said that I'd be better off going to the dealer. Do I really need to go to the dealer? They haven't called me back yet but I've always heard it's a major ripoff getting service at a dealer. Any advice?
