What to do now ?

Put some soapy water or spit around it and tug on it a little and see if air comes out and causes bubbles. It might just be in the tread and not broken through. If no air comes out, you might be able to pull it out and ride on. If air starts to come out, your going to have to change it quick. I've used slime sealant when in a bind with good results.

Do you guys really inspect every inch of your tires every time you ride? A nail could easily be missed if there's no change to air pressure.

so? that doesn't mean that if you do see it, that you can ignore it for a while. if it were me, as much as i love riding, i love having all my pieces parts whole more. do the right thing, even if it means no riding for a couple of days. there will be more days to ride ahead.

Not exactly what I meant. I doubt very seriously that many people inspect every inch of both tires every time they ride. Several posters where commenting that he should have seen it earlier as if it would have never gotten by them. I was just giving the original poster benifit of the doubt for not catching it sooner. For all we know, he picked it up on the last ride home and did catch it immediately.

That nail is not going to make your ride any better; it can only get worse. If it were me I would pull it, plug it and ride with caution to get it fixed or replaced. Good luck with whatever you decide.

update. Okay, so I rode side streets to work. Not sure that was a good idea, as I seems I hit every pot hole in southern california. Also didn't realize how bad the roads are, and how many R/R tracks there are!!! Got to work, went to shop and got 2 new Metzler tires and rear brakes. Set me back 5 bills, but the bike rides great now. Sure is a different ride with these tires compared to the stock Dunlops. Seems rounder, and so curves on freeway seem more fun. Might be my mind, but they seem lighter... the bike rolls easier.
Thanks for all your comments...

Drukanfu...... that there was funny. Those were my original thoughts.... I have about 4 seconds. How long does it take to stop rolling at 80 MPH ?

At Least it wasn't one of these.

Still haven't figured out how this 1/2 diameter 6 inch long fine thread steel bolt managed to stand perfectly stright up for me to run over. And!!!!! it never lost air pressure.
