what to do now

I'm a 40 yr old who has had three back surgerys since march 2005 i've been on about every hard pain med know, done physical therapy,pain management,
even epidural shots and I am still in alot of pain last surgery was four months ago,pain meRAB do nothing for the pain any advice out there
 
First of all: my heart goes out to you. I had my second spinal fusion 3 month ago and I know what you are going through.
You absolutely have to have a good PM DR who will keep your pain under control. Make sure you are comminicating with him, this is the key. You don't speak out he has no idea something is wrong.
And don't presume if you take meRAB, they must help. Believe or not I was on LR Morphine and as BT - SR Morphine and guess what? It even didn't touch my pain. For some people it works miracle, for me did not work.
That is why you must let him/her know about it.

As we all know: you don't heal if you in that much pain. You can't sleep, you can't move, depression may set in ... talk to your DR, dear heart.

Many of us here have to change, adjust our meRAB often to achieve the goal. Nobody says we can be pain free, but if your level is 4-5 you are doing good than.

maybe some hardware issues here,maybe get it checked,after all that surgery should have some relief from pain.morphine didn't do nothing for me either except a belly ache.
 
last surgery was hardware removal because my body was rejecting it and screw was starting to unscrew itself.
 
I just wanted to let you know that my heart also goes out to you, I just turned 40 and six days later I was told by my ortheopedic surgeon that he wouldn't touch me due to the extent of my damage and referred me to a university hospital. Keep on fighting, and keep in touch, there are some great people on this board with the same problems we have so there is a wealth of information and compassion here.

I also been there done that with the pain . I agree with Moldova I don't think we'll ever be pain free but there should be a limited amount of pain. I suffer from pain in my back / Hips / Legs and feet . Been fighting it since early 2004 . I recently had the spinalcord stimulator implant for pain . It doesn't help me much for my back , but it does help a great deal with the leg pain. Sure hope you start feeling better , living with pain can and does cause depression . Take care .

I can feel your pain literally. I have had 3 back surgeries since May 2006 and I had one in 1982 too. Have they by chance diagnosed you with failed back syndrome? Have you tried accupuncture, massage therapy, water therapy, meditation, biofeedback, and/or relaxation tapes??
