Is there anything that can be done for boils? Anything special? A home remedy??

I know someone who has gotten like 3 boils in just the last couple days out of nowhere.. They never have had boils.. She had 1 before these not too long ago and it left a horrible scar. How can you get rid of a boils the PROPER way?? Is there a way to prevent scaring?? Is there anything you can do for pain??
