What the heck is it???

I was watching Madagascar with my kiddos and I'm curious what the hell is on the giraffe's feet? In the beginning when they are going to the train station to get the zebra....the giraffe has what looks like cement blocks on his feet....?? The purpose??
 
it's tissue boxes.
i have three kids and has had to watch that movie over and over again, Melman is very health concious and a germaphobe, hence the tissue boxes on his feet...
