What tests should I ask for?

Hi, I am pretty sure I am anemic, just not sure what type, but want to also check out my thyroid since thyroid problems run in my family and I want to check to see if I am diabetic.

But I want to know exactly what tests to ask for by name because I only recently found out about my likely anemia because I went back to the doctor and requested my results and had my mother read them to tell me that I was. The doctor's office never bothered to even call me and tell me anything was wrong with my tests, and it seems like they never know what to look for on their own either, so I may as well find out all of this information on my own and just use them as a way to actually get the tests done, let them interpret the results, but also ask for the results and interpret them on my own because I think they are all overpaid idiots. This isn't the only set of doctors that I've had that tell me I'm fine when I know that I am NOT. Sorry about the rant.

If you like, I could post a short version of all of my symptoms later. Right now I am not on my computer so don't have access to my file, and I would definitely miss some. I think I actually don't have all of my symptoms in that file yet either, simply because I have been living with some of these problems for years and I think I've gotten used to some of them.

The three main things I am looking for to test are anemia, thyroid, and diabetes, Oh and I would like to have my lymph nodes checked out, specifically ones in my neck. I have a lump in my neck, have had it for years, asked about it specifically at least once, and was told it was ok. I've never had a doctor ask about it, even though it is easily felt and obviously not normal.

I'd like to eventually test for allergies but I read that they charge per allergen, and I don't have much money right now. I'd like to know specific test names, and even specific things to ask that they look for in their tests.

Thank you.

For your thyroid I would ask for a TSH, Free T3, Free T4 (important to get the free's done), thyroid antibodies tests. I would also ask for a Vit. B12, Vit. D, ferritin, CBC. A lot of people with thyroid issues are also anemic and low in the vitamins before. I don't know about diabetes.

Where is the lump in your neck? Could it be a thyroid nodule? Is it around your thyroid in the front of your neck?
