i really love the jeep grand cherokee. i have been looking at used models. i'm pretty flexible as long as its a jeep cherokee.

but i know they are not the most reliable. what's are the jeep cherokee's major flaws? what other suvs are comparable to it?

Yeah, Jeeps are great vehicles, but nonetheless they're still SUV's. Comparable ones would be Ford Explorers, Chevy Suburbans, Nissan Armada (larger than others), Toyota Sequoia, Honda Element or CR-V(actually smaller, because Honda doesn't make a large SUV, I don't think), Mazda Cx-7 and Cx-9, Mercury Mountaineer (Ford Explorer from Mercury), Dodge Durango (Same guts as a Jeep, more or less, but different style and size. I think the Durango's a little larger), Chrysler Aspen (also, like a Durango), and I think that should be about it...at least for good brands. Of course you could go out and by a Suzuki Rodeo, but I wouldn't trust it, because Suzuki is known for their motorcycles, not their cars.

But if you're dead-set on getting an SUV, don't buy large. There are plenty of small SUV's that get much better fuel economy, and still make good power. Sure they might not have as much space as a large SUV, but do you really NEED a ton of space? There are plenty of cars and minivans that have as much space as an SUV and get better fuel mileage.

But yeah, if you're dead set on a large SUV and you really don't care about mileage, there's my list at the top, take your pick, but do your research.

As for major flaws, I dunno, but it could have the typical Mopar (generalized name for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Plymouth(may she rest in peace)) flaws, like a cheap interior, a couple rattles here or there, maybe, but otherwise, I'm not sure what flaws a Cherokee has.
