This will be my third instrument. I play saxophone primarily and i taught myself clarinet. I want to learn a string instrument because I am pursuing a career in music, and I also think I will enjoy orchestra. I will be a junior when/if i join, but that will not stop me. I love the sound of both viola and cello, but I am stuck. What kind of parts do each of the instruments have in an orchestra? I'm not going to choose mainly based on parts, I'm just curious. I know they're both usually harmonic, but explain to me the technique and stuff. Tell me anything that you think will me useful in helping me decide, even if they are just personal opinions. But please don't tell me to do viola because orchestras are usually in need for them. I don't want to choose viola over cello only because of that.
