What story would you like to see transferred to celluloid?

Really it can be anything from a news story, a time in history, a story from your imagination, or a book.

I would choose something like a Terry Pratchett book, e.g. Night Watch series, or the Rincewind books. Failing that the Nights Dawn Trilogy by Peter F. Hamilton.

I recently had an idea about the story of the Grand National in 1997. This was the one where the IRA stopped the race by phoning in a bomb threat and the whole course had to be cleared.

As no-one was allowed to go back to their cars, me and my mates were stranded in Liverpool for the night. We had a sort of mini-adventure roaming the streets trying to find somewhere to stay and meeting pretty much half of Liverpool's underworld. We also at one point ended up in the roughest pub I've ever seen in my life.

I'm seriously thinking of writing it down when I have a bit of spare time, whenever that will be.

The New Years eve murders of the two girls in Birmingham.

John Leslie being charged with rape.

Paul Gascoignes life.

Three potentially awesome films there.

The story of the Piano man... which'll probably be turned into some sub-spy/comedy thriller played by Arnold Schwarznegger and starring Danny DeVito as his evil twin brother...

"In a world..." begins the trailer "...where the only man who can save the world is a guy who plays the piano..." - it turns out he's a hitman and can't remember who he has to kill - and it turns out, he's been hired to kill himself... or something.

Really??

I'd let the Koreans/Japanese loose on the Algernon Blackwood ghost stories.

The Fog has been made years ago.

The Piano Man is a p1ss taker, he doesn't deserve anymore publicity.

nope - synopsis of the film The Fog: The Centenary of the small sea town, Antonio Bay, is approaching. While the townsfolk prepare to celebrate, the victims of the crime that founded the town rise from the sea to claim retribution. Under cover of the fog, they carry out their vicious attacks, searching for what is rightly theirs.

synopsis of the book The Fog

The peaceful life of a Wiltshire village is shattered when an earthquake releases a cloud of strange fog that drives people insane. In an exclusive private school, students sexually assaulted and mutilated their teachers, then savagely turned on one another... At a seaside resort, thousanRAB of people joined in a monstrous act of self-destruction... In a lonely room, an old lady was shredded and eaten by her beloved pet cats... In the city, mass copulation and insane slaying spread. Time was running out for mankind. There is only one man who can control the violence that has been unleashed.

The Peter Falconio disappearance would (will?) make a good subject for a docu-drama. There's an Aussie thriller coming out called Outback which apparently is very loosely based on it.

Also, as Silentflute says, the Piano Man story is just crying out to be turned into a film, although I see it as more of a Rainman thing, directed by Anthony Minghella and starring Kevin Spacey.

What about Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez doing Batman ?

Sorry I'll rephrase that
What about Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez directing a decent version of Batman

Dunno if anyone has heard of them, but I read a series of books when I was younger about a group of mice, and them being at war with a group of rats, who were controlled by an evil cat called Jupiter... They were The Deptford Mice Trilogies by Robin Jarvis, and they were pretty amazing to read. Would love to see a film about them.
