...Distributors.? I have been selling used instruments online with success since 2000. I am ready to go to the next level and sale new musical instruments online. I have seen many people doing this on sites like eBay, how can I get in on the action?

It is not easy finding Wholesale Distributors of any type of item or product on the internet, they are not advertised or easy to find like every thing else on the internet. The reason being is if it was that easy to find these large distributors than business would not make money the way they do now.

The best advice I could give you is to do some research on other companies that Sell the items you are interested in selling. See how long they have been in business, see how successful they have been, see how they sell there items and what sells more than the other.

Once you figure out what exactly you would want to start selling you need to take a good look at the situation you are in. Do you have the financials to start a business? You might not need hundreds of thousands of dollars to open a business but you definitely need some start up money. Next step would be to contact your local County Clerks office to find out what legal documents are needed to start a business like the one you want to start, then visit the IRS website and find out what you would need to register your company with the IRS. There are a few documents with the city, IRS and state that might need to be completed in order to have a registered business in the state that you live in.

After all legal documents are done, start looking into the Brands of the items you are interested in selling and see if they have a website. Most large Brand name companies have a website and they also give you information for Resellers, which is what you would be once you are registered. You could also speak to other Sellers on eBay and see if they might be able to point you in the right direction, of course some will not give you that information but some might be helpful.

I could go on and on with some helpful information on Starting up a business, and I have been through it all myself. I just opened up my own business in the beginning of the year, I have a website but its still underconstruction but should be open to the public very soon.

If at anytime you might need some help or pointed in the right direction, feel free to contact me and I would be more than happy to assist you with your inquiries.

Good Luck and God Speed

Find out who makes the instruments and how the product is sold into your country.

You may end up dealing with a wholesale distributor which would require you to have a small business license etc. Some even want pictures of a storefront etc.

It may be that you could become a wholesale distributor yourself if you have enough buyers available and enough money to front for the product.
