Proxima Centauri, the word proxima is latin for nearest to. It is a red dwarf star that is 4.2 light years from us. Its mass is about an 8th of the sun's but the density is 40 times more than the sun's. Despite being so close to us, Proxima Centauri is not a very bright star with the Absolute Magnitude being 15.49
