what speed/rpm should I shift at for a 2005 mazda 6?

The manual is probably giving you the points to shift where your car will give you the best miles per gallon of gas. If you want better acceleration, you could let the rpms go higher. 4000rpm seems like a good point. For the best performance you can get out of the car, you can get just below red line of the rpm meter. But that uses up more gas. The higher the rpms the more gas your using. Hope this helps.

It's a V6 3.0 liter. The manual says to shift first (17mph), second (30mph), third (35mph), fourth (40mph) and fifth (45mph). This seams low, and when I shift low like that the car slightly chugs. It seems to shift more smooth around 4000 rpm's. Thanks

to accelerate faster u want to go higher up on the rpm bar but dont go to high or u will risk blowing ur engine i no for my var mazda 3 its at 7k ur might be different. im not telling you to go and check and see how high u can get it b.c if u do and something goes wrong im not gonna be responsible for it but thts what i did or go find a mazda 6 forums and ask on there :) goodluck
