I'm doing a project/paper for my zoology class and I'm wondering what species of fish have a labyrinth organ, besides betta. I know betta have one for sure.

My main focus will probably be betta, as I own one and can do live observation, but I wanted to know if there were any other species with a labyrinth organ that I could include in my paper.

Anabantoid is the sub-order of fish with labyrinth organs. =) There are many fish species in this group. In fact, there are actually several different types of Bettas (Betta splendens, Betta imbellis, et cetera). Gouramis, Betta splendens, and paradise fish are probably the most common anabantoid aquarium fish. Betta splendens and similar species tend to use their labyrinth organs more than other anabantoids as well.

any type of gourami has a labyrinth. opaline, three spot, kissing, rainbow/dwarf. there are tons, and they are sold in alot of stores.
