What size hook should I use when I bass fish?

I have fish twice in the last 10 years, both times coming in the last month but it was at a small lake with some kids and caught some sunnies and a smaller rod. I really love it and miss what I did as a kid and Im "hooked". So two questions.... I bought a new rod at dick's, medium action, line wgt. 6-14, 6'6", lure wt: 1/8 - 1/2 .... honestly I dont know what any of these means, I know the line is 10 lbs weight too ... So Im sure this is good for the bigger lake Im going to this weekend for bass fishing. What size hook should I use??? and Can I use this same rod for smaller fish???
 
All you really need is a 2/0 hook. The 6-14 line wgt is what lb test line is recommended for the rod, and the 1/8 and 1/2 is what weight lure the rod recommends, and for the second question, I'm not sure what kind of smaller fish you're talking about
