What size and type of dirt bike should I get?

I am 16 and I want a fun dirt bike. Something fast, I never had a dirt bike before so I don't know what I am looking for. I don't know if weight matters but I weigh 150lbs. Also I am probably getting something used is that a good idea? What size should I get and would I be able to get anything good if I pay between 500 and 1000$?
 
I'm 15 and I ride a Honda Crf230f. Its a really good machine and it handles really well. Another good bike is the Honda Crf250. Its great speed and is a really good trail bike. I would look for a used because new bikes can be pretty spendy. Although a lot of the used ones are a little spendy also you can probably find a pretty fair priced bike. Just start looking in ebay or cycle trader. Good Luck and Have Fun.
