What size and resolution in Photoshop for image for a large board?

I am designing a "poster" to advertise the school's fair. It will be displayed on 6ft x 8ft real estate agents' boards.

I'm pretty sure the committee has asked for the image to be in pdf format.

What is the best size and resolution to use for the image when opening the new document in Photoshop?
