what should u take to university the first day of classes?

Notebook, paper, and a pen...that's all I take to class every day.

Laptops aren't necessary (they're distracting more than anything), and big binders (like the ones used in high school) are also not necessary because you don't receive many handouts.

So, buy a couple notepads (one for each class, or 1 for two classes), get a couple pads of paper, and a couple pens and you're set.
 
Textbooks if you already have them, laptop if you own one, notebook(s), pens, pencils, money for lunch and such, and anything else you want.
