I recently came across a Mazda 626 ES (V6) and I noticed that the RPM's were reading much higher than that of a similar V6 car when driving at higher speeds. Also an older car was running about the same RPM's at the same speed, however it was only a 4 cylinder. A friend already told me that it might be geared higher, another told me that the computer was recently reset and might need some time to register one thing or another. So I was wondering if at a high speeds if the Mazda is running at 3-4x1,000 RPM was normal or quite harmful to the engine?
What should the RPM's read on a 1997 Mazda 626 ES at 70-80 mph?
