What should Republicans do? (besides cutting stuff)

What should the Republicans do for the rest of this Congress, after the Debt Ceiling has (hopefully) been successfully dealt with?

And besides cutting spending or taxes, or repealing anything.


*No Child Left Behind reform?

*Tort reform (including medical malpractice)?

*Free trade agreements?

*Immigration reform?

*Energy independence?

*Fixing and maintaining our Energy/Transportation infrastructure?

*Merging and consolidating government departments/agencies?

*Restoring civil liberties?

*Legalizing marijuana?

*Reforming and reinvigorating NASA?
 
Take steps to actually reduce the cost of medical care. Thus lowering the cost of insurance.

Roll back infringements on privacy that came during and before Bush...as well as the expansions of same since Bush.

Define "eminent domain" in such a way that it can only be used for public projects...never for Walmarts or strip malls.

Vouchers, so people can have a real choice in their child's education.

I'm against outright tariRAB...but any US company oRABhoring more that 25% of it's products should lose all tax breaks.

Legalize marijuana and tax it.

Streamline the immigration process, but throw illegals out with the quickness...no first-world country just lets anyone and everyone in.

Reduce restrictions on domestic drilling, but provide more tax incentives for green energy utilization & research.

That's all that comes to mind now.
 
I agree with all of that (except the vouchers, and I feel there must be some pathway to citizenship for illegals).

Even more importantly, I do think the Republican Party could adopt all of those positions (except ending tax breaks, they don't like ending any, even if it's to help American manufacturing).

I can't wait to have the Debt Ceiling and Budget debates behind us, so we can move on to more constructive bills and policies, like these. I generally like Democrats more, but there are some things that Republicans just do better or only they can really do.
