What should i wear to an italian restaurant in new york?

Today i am going to an italian restaurant. My friends family is taking me as a late birthday present. Turns out a LOT of her family is coming too. What should i wear that is appropriate but not over or under dressing, keeping in mind that it is a birthday celebration in my honor. Thanks
