What should I say to a sports coach to play in college?

Im going to be a senior in high school come August, and I've been playing softball on a travel team for a while and I would love to play in college. But when e-mailing the head coach at the college, what should I write or say in the e-mail?
 
Hmm, this sounds like my story but mines was a little different.
I received an email from college saying that recruiting was open.
But...
Simply send an email saying that youre good, how long youve been playing, youre interested in playing for the team, and when try-outs are.
If not, you could always call the school or check their website if they have one.
Sometimes calling the school and having the extension for the coach is better. <--My technique.
