What should i expect if i am hired as a correctional officer at the county jail?

Friday I take my Civil Service Exam and if i pass they will start conducting interviews and such. On a paper i was given it states that for the first 2 weeks minimum i will be paired with a senior officer. They certify/train you there. Since I'm brand new to this job would I be given self defense training or weapons of any sort (pepper spray, handcuffs, etc)? How big of a jail would it be? Anyone ever been a CO before? Tell me your experience. The county population is about 322,077. Thanks, I appreciate all answers.
 
n Aberdeen Maryland, a man with 4 previous DUI's on his record recently got into his 5th DUI. In his 5th DUI, he slammed into someone's car out on the highway, killing them. And, then, he fled the scene. But, alas, his bumper was left at the scene of the accident, with his license plate attached to it. So, they were able to quickly track down the culprit. His name is Officer Dane Patrick Hall.
