What should I do with my story?

Okay, so my friend was writing something involving a girl with a gay brother. The gay brother and his issues, were not the main story. So I'm like... "I'm gonna write the gay brother's story!" So I'm to the very end of the plot and I'm stuck (mostly because I'm trying to stay consistent to her story... And she hasn't told me what happens next D:) So here we go!

Trace is an pretty much average, gay, 15 year old boy. His parents always accepted him, and so did his older sister. He came out in 8th grade :D In 9th, he met a guy named Colin... And they fell in luv :) So they do the love-y things that couples in Illinois do; they went to Applebees, they made out in movie theaters, they had lotsa sex (jk! they only do it once, after prom [awww!]) Anywayssss... this is where it starts getting iffy. They break up (for reasons idk yet... It's hard to write a story over text message.) and then Trace is just sooo distraught. His sister comforts, and then she tries to set him up with a girl and he's like "Aidyn! I'm gay!" And she's all like "Sorry, thought I'd try." So he goes and sulks for a while. Til finallyyyy... they get back together ^_^ And thenthenthen... it's totally prom time. And Colin asks Trace to be his date in front of the whole classsss :D And they go to prom, go home to Colin's house, and they totally do it (if my friend lets me lol) Then like... **** happens. I'm not too sure, but if anything MAJOR happens, she'd text me. So it's all lovey dovey filler. Then, they're at school, and a jock guy from the other school is making fun of Trace, and Colin tries to stand up for him, and Colin gets shot D: And at the hospital, Trace is beside him, and in his final breath, Colin tells Trace he loves him. And then he dies D:: (I know, it's a total Degrassi move. Whatever.)

Then like... Neither of us know what to do. What should we do?

(Btw, I know it's cliche as hell but idc. I'm writing it anyways. I'm not gonna publish it anyways...)

Seriously answer...
Okay, the girl is happily in love with her boyfriend. and she is in so much pain when she sees that Trace is so hurt by this. She's trying to make trace feel better, like she always has, but this time she just can't do it. She's really nice, caring, and would give her life for the people she loves.
Trace was never really in a "closet." Even when he hadn't told people he was gay, everyone knew he was.
