My transmission is shot on my Mazda 6, I don't have the money to fix it so I figured I will try and trade it in well for a little while, I was out of a job and I got behind on about four of my credit cards, which totals about 4k. So they are on my credit report and bringing my score down since now its in collections. I am slowly paying them off but I am stuck because I want to get a new car but no one will finance me in this economy. Also, I am upside down on my car I owe about 3k than what its worth. I asked my credit union the one I've with for years, never late on a car payment or a personal loan I have with them and they still denied my for a new car loan along with another personal loan to fix my transmission. I did finally find a car dealership to finance me but then the same problem my stupid trade, they won't put the negative equity into a new car. I don't know what to do, every time I think I found a solution another disappointment. Any advice as to what I should do please help, I am trying one more time to go to my credit union and speak to a manager and see if he can work something out

Have you tried talking to a mechanic about fixing the transmission and setting up a finance plan to pay him back on installments?
Some mechanics or shops will do that for their customers in need.

This option would be much cheaper than purchasing a new car, altogether.
