What should I do to my car? I can do anything under 800 dollars?

My father, for a VERY out of the blue Christmas gift, gave me a gift certificate for $750 to an auto-detailing place in my area. He went way out of his way to locate a place near me and do all this, I'm really grateful and I want advice on what's best to use it on.

I have a 2000 Jeep Cheroke. It has a crap stereo, 3 okay speakers and one completely blown speaker. So I was thinking I should get a new sound system. I heard Pioneer was all-around good. I really want clarity in the bass...but i don't necessarily need a sub right?

So far I'd get 4 high quality speakers, an equalizer, the stereo, and what else? What does an amp do?

I need detailed advice please I know NOTHING about this stuff and i don't have any catalogue to look through!
 
$800 is a lot. If you are not an audiophile, spending $200 a speaker becomes worthless. The sound is only as good as YOUR ears can tell. Some people can tell the difference, some cant. Listen yourself, and buy the cheapest that sounds good to you.

An amp is really only needed for fine tuning or if your headunit does not have a good internal amp.

You could probably get speakers, a head unit, and an alarm with your certificate.
