I am planning a special dinner shortly with some special people. I plan to be cooking on my own and I'd be the only one cooking and chopping. So i want to make some really great exotic stuff and yet not spend all the time in the kitchen.

I am not biased towards any particular cuisine. I like Indian, chinese, Thai, Italian, Mexican, Arabic etc.... But I just want it to be non-vegetarian.

Please suggest me some good dishes which I could prepare without having to hunt all over for weird ingredients or spend like 8 hours cooking!!

PS: I don't have a microwave.
Please don't suggest me to order pizzas. I wouldn't have posted this question then.

Also, I am quite against microwave food. I prefer traditional cooking. And I like my ingredient fresh. I try to avoid canned food with preservatives and stuff.

Make Nachos, easiest dish in the world. Then make bacon burgers with optional bbq sauce. Then make steaks if they want them with ham on the side all while making a meat lovers pizza...

Dude, your making me so hungrrrryyyyyyyyyy.

Make Asian chicken. It has some veggies, but with chicken in it, its hard to see that its good for you. You don't need a microwave, you can just use the stove.

P.S. Dont buy any box-typed meal, it tastes way better when you cook it yourself.

Make traditional American dinner.. Nice sirloin steak on the grill with baked potato, corn, and salad.. Easy to do and everyone like steak and potato

Poached Chicken
- get boneless skinless chicken breasts
- potatoes carrotts whole onions (peeled) quartered

Rip a sheet of foil, spray with Pam put a single chicken breast in middle, add fresh herbs (I use chives) whatever you like or put some jam in the middle

Seal tightly

Do the same with the veggies (just salt and pepper)

preheat oven 350 put on cookie sheet and bake 45 minutes serve nice salad

There are some really great recipes on myfryingpan.com but they don't use any canned things so they tend to take a bit longer. You could make this really great sausage and peppers pasta, it takes awhile but is amazing and most of the time is spent simmering the sauce so it thickens, which you don't really have to be in the kitchen for, just have to stir every 30 minutes. I made the same dish for a group of people and everyone really loved it, two people even asked for the recipe. hope you like

You might also like the stuffed mushrooms, they arnt heavy and breaded but they have chorizo stuffed in them along with cheese and some veggies, they are really easy, tasty and don't take any time.
