what should i buy for my first car help plzzzz?

ok i can either get a half ton 78 longbed chevy for $1000 but it needs some work like new bed new inside and some other things or a an 88 k5 chevy blazer it needs some work but not nearly as much its going for $2250 so which one should i get thanks for helping out
 
the blazer has lots of reliability problems iv herd. and for $2000-$5000 you could get a nice used Toyota Tacoma on crags list. Toyota's are very reliable and you can work on them yourself
