What sequels have been confirmed for the future?

Judge Dredd.

It was announced yesterday.

Not a remake as such but a new 'hoperfully better' back to basics version staying true to the original character which appears in 2000AD comic. It starts filming at the end of the year for a 2012 release. No word as yet on who plays the tough lawman of the future.

If people don't know much about the character, it's more or less Dirty Harry set in a Blade Runner type world. A fascist cop upholding a totalitarian regime of the future. But there's lots of black comedy thrown in too.

The original Dredd film from 1995 was a mess - Stallone saying "I am the lawwwhhhhhrrrr!" one of many crappy moments in the film - and it didn't really capture the essence of the character. The new film should be much closer to the source material (I hope)!

If done right Dredd has the potential to rival any American superhero type character although the budget is comparatively small at $45 million. If you love sci-fi films, this is one film to look out for as it could be rather good. :)

Because they had to wait for the little lady to be old enough to be a bride :D

yup all 3 men are confirmed, its a shame the girl who played the little girl quit acting otherwise it would be all the original cast :)

Batman 3 has been confirmed Christian Bale, Gary Oldman and Michael Caine are all on contract to do 3 movies but Chris Nolan is unsure whether he will return. Chris Nolan MUST RETURN although i trust Warner Bros to get a good director but no matter what i don't think the movie would be half as good. Anyone who is interested Chris Nolan's next movie Inception is due to have a teaser trailer out on the 21st of August or somewhere very close to that time

Saw 9

Cars 2 and Monsters Inc. 2 will be worthwhile I hope - both have very convincing alternate worlRAB as the setting, it would be cool to see them make the most of that by having new stories taking place :)

As for Toy Story 3... :D:D The first 2 are so damn good! Hope it's not a letdown...

Tron: Legacy is due for release in December 2010

Dont believe any rumours on the internet about Batman 3 at the moment as Nolan has not even started planning it yet. Although I would not expect to see Robin in it!

Concerning any new Superman films people may have a long wait as according to the head of the new DC entertainment division Diane Nelson. She said that ""We actually don't have any current plans for Superman. We've obviously done a lot of great things behind the property in our history, and it's a key part of the family, but we don't have current plans behind Superman" said Nelson. This quote is from the 15th September!

Also happening is Mission Impossible 4 which appartently JJ Abrams is producing and maybe even directing again!

So we have....

Spiderman 4 [the start of another trilogy of films IIRC]
Pirates Of The Caribbean 4
Batman 3
Monsters Inc. 2
Cars 2
Toy Story 3
Transformers 3
Indiana Jones 5
Shrek 4
The Hangover 2
Kung Fu Panda 2
Terminator 5

I really hope they don't make a Die Hard prequel... what's the point, it would ruin the entire franchise! If they made a DH5 but made it more like the first 2 where McClane is on his own and is at his sweary best. None of this 'edited for a 12A' crap any more.

Indy 5 has not been confirmed any further than Frank Marshall saying "We have a idea for it". No script, no cast, no contracts, no money. I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

The sequel is in the works but as far as I know it will still be Henson's puppets which of course is the correct thing.
IMO Yoda in the three Star Wars prequels was crap as an CGI. It may be technicallt good but puppets still beat it when it comes to delivering emotions.
