I'm sure a lot of good deals to be had on the 09's. As many have said the standard with the hard bags would be the most desirable due to the lockable and water tight. All the other goodies you can always put on such as cruise and other sorts. Good luck on your hunt. I'm new to the KING and LOVE it! Was a great purchase for me!

I suggest you find one nearby and buy it immediately. Does not matter what RK it is, just so long as it is a Road King. Preferences include hard saddle bags, cruise control, abs, upgraded seat, heritage style handlebars, and various other add-ons and upgrades too numerous to list. Of course, you will find that these "options" may or may not fit your needs in which case you'll forever be in the endless loop of buying stuff you think you need to make the bike better/fill the need of fitting in/becoming a poser/rub/etc.
Seriously, go out and look over what's close by. Mine was only 5 miles from my home. I mean you gotta get started on the important stuff of making it yours

Now I will forgive your question that BTW if you started a new thread on, would probably get a ton of "oh no's" and advice to make your head spin.
2007 - 6 spd (if you plan long stretches of highway)
2008 - 6 spd, larger fuel tank and Brembo brakes.
2009 - New frame (most will tell you WELL worth it), but we have 07 and 08 so don't ask me.
Can't really comment on the 05/06 and I cannot remember for the life of me what year the 96 ci came out.
Snoop around on here, think about the type of riding you are going to do. I am one who believes any Road King that fits the budget and is a good buy for the $$ is the deal to go for. Just my
