The genre is fantasy and it's an alice in wonderland/coraline type novel that is almost completed. The two aforementioned books are considered to be children's books and have illustrations but mine would be in the YA category. I would want to include illustrations drawn by my own self on each new chapter page of the characters and I feel it would really add something extra to the novel.
I am one year away from being considered an adult and I've never written a novel before but I have spent a great deal of my life reading and I feel my novel is worthy of being published. Because of my age I know nothing of how publishing works except from articles I have read on the internet. I read I must first find an agent so I suppose it would be beneficial to look for an agent that accepts novel illustrations before looking for a publisher that does? It's not absolutely necessary for my illustrations to be included but I would really like them to be!
Also is me being young a positive or negative aspect? Would publishers be happy to have such a young writer because they would be able to advertise the book as written by someone young, or would they not allow young writers?
