What programs do I need to make a game for a computer?

Computer games are generally written in programming languages.

If you want to get into creating relatively simple games with as little actual programming as possible, I suggest you start with learning Flash.

You will need something like Adobe Flash suite to get you started.

Also here are some tutorials that you can read up on to see how easy you think it will be:

I have a Windows Vista and I'm wondering if its possible to make an offline game like civilisation or oblivion on my home computer with only a couple of programs, and if it is possible, what are the best programs for this and are there any tutorials?

Game Editor is the game design software that gives you the power to create the games of your dreams, and, unlike other game creation tools, gives you the chance to get and change the source code of the game creator and design and develop 2D games for personal computers as well as mobile devices.
