What programming language is used on Verizon phones?

I know it's some kind of Java, but what is it specifically? I'm referring to non windows mobile & blackberry phones that verizon offers. Mostly LG and Samsung phones.

Verizon actually uses BREW, not Java. BREW apps can be written in C and C++.
