What Port does BREW Communicate Over?

Does anybody know what port BREW uses to tunnel to the Internet?

Is it the standard http port of 80? Or some other port (proprietary)?

I am thinking this is the only reason I can't get WAP to work on my Cricket phone: I'm thinking that perhaps they have port 80 blocked for tcpip.

Any ideas?

cricket does not have internet yet. cricketclicks does not access the internet just servers internal to cricket. wap browsing is coming. if your cricket account has wap browsing enabled right now you will get this message when opening the browser and will receive 403 forbidden when trying to access any other url:

Coming soon! Access the Mobile Internet to get the latest in Sports, Entertainment and much more.

they are telling me WAP browsing will be available q3 now, so expect it by the end of the year. having this option turned on seems to make it so that i cannot send picture messages, so it's not an option you want turned on yet. it was put on my account by mistake and i'm still trying to get someone at cricket to take it off my account. there is like only one person at cricket that can alter demo accounts and they have been slow to act for me.

The fact that mobile WAP interfered with your MMS picture messaging is even more evidence that BREW and other mobile features are using standard TCPIP ports over wireless.

I just want to know what port that might be over so that I can set-up a WAP proxy.

Hey, if you already have mobile WAP on your Cricket phone, then maybe you can tell me what the browser settings are on your phone?

On the Razr, if you type 74663#, then press CLR button two times quickly, it will ask for your subsidy code, which is six 3's.

The browser settings should be somewhere in the next menu.

while i'm sure that it does communicate over tcpip, i don't think that there is any route to the greater internet. there are no browser settings in that menu. all that is in there is MIN, MDN, Sys ID, and IMSI. any other ideas? this would be really cool to figure out if there is a way to actually get wap access now.

All you have to do is find the browser settings. There should be an IP address there as well as the port nuraber.

I'm going to ask over in the Motorola forum to see if I can get any help on this.

Brb....

I just flashed my Audiovox 8910 from Alltel with Cricket's firmware. Pressing ##BREWHELP {END} brings up a menu called 'Brew Test'. Here are some of the settings and values in that menu.
DNS1 - 192.190.109.042 (resolves to leap-prod-vip.qualcomm.com)
DNS2 - 192.190.109.043 (resolves to leap-test-vip.qualcomm.com)
CID (carrier ID) - 82
PID (platform ID) - 16034
F:12 A:1 P:3 S:leap-prod-vip.qualcomm.com
Download Buffer - 13 KBytes
HTTP Buffer - 15 KBytes

Both Cricket Clicks and MMS messaging are working fine now but before the flash I could only recieve MMS messages. The flash removed the browser from the menu and the code ##BROWSER {END} that had the proxy IP's and ports no longer functions. Funny thing though, when I put in the code #HELP*{END} for the Help menu and go to Version info it lists a Browser Ver. 6.2.3.1. With the Alltel firmware it was Ver. 6.2.3.2. It must be in there just locked out. And I thought I had hacked everything possible on this phone. CUPST showed the same thing as the browser code would but all the entries were blank. Here are the settings in the MMS menu pulled up with the code ##MMSCRI{END} (667274). (code is different for each Carrier, with Alltel it was ##MMSALL{END} (667255)).

PAP usr ID - YourNuraber @ mycricket.com
PAP Passwd - cricket
Host server - MMSC URL - mms.mycricket.com
Getpix server - MML URL - 1111/TYPE=PLM
UAProf URL - {BLANK}
Proxy Server Url - {BLANK}
Proxy Server Port - 0
Proxy User Name - {BLANK}
Proxy User Pwd - {BLANK}

As you can see anything to do with proxy settings is empty. Check this thread out, Mobile Web on Cricket. Must be valid proxy IP's etc. on their phone, maybe someone who knows their way around Moto phones could help him/her view the nurabers. It would be a great contribution to the community. :2thurabs:
