What phone for Japan

Hi

I am due to renew my contract and I need to know what phone would work in Japan as I am fed up of going there and my tri-band is no good. Is it true I need to be on a 3G contract.

Yes, you need a 3G contract (or the ability to roam there with your GSM phone, as well as a 3G phone. But, you need to understand that if you want a local number there, you need a 3G contract. If you are getting a contract there, then GET A PHONE THERE TOO! They have lots of discounts when you buy a phone with a contract (so I've been told). If you are going to get a phone there that you want to unlock and use with your local contract where you currently live, then get a Vodafone contract- their phones are unlockable. If you want to stick with roaming with your current carrier, it's still a nice idea to buy your phone there, because they're more advanced. Hope this helps!
