What phone/carrier for 120kbps+ download rate?

I'm looking for a phone that can act as a modem for my laptop and that delivers at least a 120 kbps download rate when I'm receiving data on my laptop. I want to be able to use a USB data cable to make the connection between the phone and the laptop. I'm not interested in EV-DO because it's still too expensive for my budget. Any suggestions on a phone and carrier that might be able to do this relatively economically?
 
Well, either way, unlimited data is gonna be expensive. You've got EVDO and UMTS to choose from (either Cingular, Sprint or Verizon). If you can't afford Verizon, then I doubt you're gonna do any better with cingular.

You could go with Tmobile, but I don't think edge is what you're looking for
 
Yeah I thought that there might be a 120kbps data plan that was significantly less expensive than the 700kbps of EV-DO. Apparently that's not case so I guess I'll have to wait for the mass market to bring prices down. Thanks for helping.
