what parts can i take off my 1999 dodge neon engine to run better?

i want to take some useless parts out "emissions" i only want parts that are needed to make the engine run what can i take out?
my friend took parts out of his car like a box full of useless parts
the parts that try to make everything energy efficient are what i mean
like the Egr line and the catalytic converter those are for energy efficient use!
