What, other than breaking out a window, can I do get in my 1999 Ford Explorer when

it's gone completely dead..? and the keyless entry won't work (since it's dead), and the door keypad won't work (since it's dead), and the key is only for the ignition? Yeah, I called the Ford dealership, and the service guy told me that the key was supposed to OPEN the door. I tried it again for the helllll of it, and it still would not open the door. So, what can I do folks?

if the battery is dead it won't open it, if it won't open one side try the other, a lock smith or a good mechanic can get it open for you with a slim Jim if he's licenced to have one.

did you try the key in the hatch lock also if that doesnt work then i would say that someone at one time or another had the ignition lock changed as the ignition key is the same for the ignition and door locks i know on my pickup for 3 years i just used the key fob to open the door and one day lost the fob and had difficulty getting key to work in door because the key hadnt been in the door since vehicle was new so im guessing dirt etc was in there had to put lock lube in it and work key around to get it to catch have fob now but if i use key i still have to jiggle it around try key on tailgate hatch if that doesnt work get lock graphite and wiggle key if that doesnt work call locksmith they can get it open where you can charge battery unstick lock tumblers if thats the problem or make a door key if in fact the ignition was changed and you dont have door key any of those options will be cheaper than replacing a broken window

CALL AAA a good tow truck driver can open it, did you try all the doors? they should open with the key even though the battery is dead..

Is your battery dead? that might be the reason the keypad and keyless entry system isn't working. And yeah why doens't the key open the door, it should. It could be the door, try the passenger side. Otherwise call up AAA or someone licensed to Jimmy open your door.
