What old xbox game does this sound like?

Hello,
I am trying to figure out what the name of a certain game I played early on when the Xbox (original) was a pretty new console. Here's the best description I can come up with:

The game is set in an ancient Asiatic setting, most likely rural China. The main character that you play as has several scars on his face, wears a black leather shirt, carries a thin, katana-esque sword, and is white. I remember that some of the missions take place inside of an Asian castle where dozens of "ninja" like enemies jump over the castle walls and you have to kill them. I remember that you aquire a male companion that you liberate from the antagonist's prison, a female companion, and an old male companion that you have to meet in a mountain-top shack. He fires a gun/bow- like weapon and wears tiny little glasses/sunglasses.

That's all I remember, so please try to come up with the name of this game.

I've played all the Ninja Gaiden games and it's definitely not any of them- It's an old, pretty obscure game.

It could be a game from the Tenchu franchise, I guess, but I've never played them all. You're a ninja throughout the game and have to "stealth kill" different enemies, and, based upon your skill, you receive a ninja ranking for each mission. I know Tenchu Z is on the Xbox 360, Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven is on PS2, and that Tenchu: Shadow Assassins is on the Wii, but I'm not sure about any others off of the top of my head.
