Greta- Well, some would say the first time man hurled an insult instead of a spear.
I don't think that's the answer ... I believe it occurred before language.

Adam and Eve, then Eve got pregnant and started the civilisation.
I think if she hadn't ate the apple, they might still have still be in the the garden of eden.
And to be quite honest I believe it was all Adams fault, as you know it is always the mans fault, as every woman will tell you, and that is a fact.
.

Has civilization begun? I must have missed the announcement. We are still killing each other, we are still making animals kill each other for our amusement..........

Civilization to me is a civilized culture as opposed to savage or barbarian cultures. If any one thing would have occurred to become a civilized group of humans it would have to have been the invention of rules and regulations (laws) that had to be followed for the survival of the whole group ! If you go with the Bible it would have been God making the rules and dishing out punishment. . . Do not eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge. . . You shall be thrown out of Eden. . You killed your brother Cain, this is my law. . . If anyone slew a person - be it for murder or for spreading mischief in the land - it would be as if he slew the whole people; and if anyone saved a life, it would be as if he saved the life of the whole people. So to me. . . it is Laws !!!

I would say agriculture and small animal husbandry.
Staying in one place to grow your food source and tend rabbits, fowl, etc took a lot more cooperation than wandering around.

After that, the next big step would be the written word.

Standing upright. A communal fire? not sure what you're asking Blu.

Then maybe it was when we invited the wolf to come share our fire.
