What network does Cricket piggy back on?

Leap Wireless owns Cricket, they do not own MetroPCS. The ability to roam was brought about by a ten year agreement.

There has been no buyout, only a partnership. They remain two wholly separate companies.

Tracfone doesn't have their own network. They're an MVNO.

Anyway, if they do merge and could pick up U.S Cellular they would have a lot more coverage. Then again, I don't know much about U.S Cellular. They could be losing a lot of money and it might hurt us to buy them out. If U.S Cellular is doing good then it would be good for us to have them. We would have better coverage and a lot more subscribers.

Sweet Jayzus!

I do wish posters at MINIMUM read wikepedia or the comany's web page to get correct information. In one thread, you have TWO big factual errors. Whatever happend fact checking your posts?!

it's not that simple. the main disagreement preventing merger i believe is deciding who stays in control of the company. although the service structure is similar the two companies currently have very different strategies when it comes to launching markets and several other aspects of the business operations.

Yeah, I was thinking similarly. What do they do with all of the employees?

You said Metro and Cricket have different strategies when it comes to launching a network. Which strategy is better? I'm guessing these are the two strategies:

1) Put up a few towers and launch. Have the city stated on the list of cities when there really aren't any towers there. (In my case, my city is listed on the list and I'm getting a signal from across the river.) (Metro :D)

2) Put up a lot of towers to cover the network well. Keep everything quiet. Three weeks before launch post the date on the website. Don't say anything until the day of the launch. Then advertise like crazy. (Cricket :D)

Do you think they are the two main differences when it comes to launching in an area?

No one is gonna own anyone at this time. They are both growing relatively well with Metro growing the fastest in the unlimited realm and Leap not far behind. Until they really feel the pressure from the other carriers, if the others start lowering the price of unlimited to get anywhere near Metro and Leap, that is when the two companies will need to look into merger possibilities again, and hopefully keep it behind closed doors (I'm looking at you, Metro!). But until then the partnership will do just fine.

yes cricket's strategy involves buildout mostly before launch vs. metro's launch and then buildout. personally i think cricket's is better than having to tell a lot of disappointed people "trust me it will get better in the next year and a half"

also i think Vegas proves cricket's strategy is a little better. cricket has far superior nurabers to metro even tho metro launched there first.

Oh. I am not referring to you. I am referring to the posters (two of 'em) who didn't fact check their posts. We can all screw up on the details...but not on the general facts.
