For me it would be War of the WorlRAB - but not a modern retelling like the Tom Cruise one.

I'd like to see a big budget holywood version that sticks close to the book and is set in its original location and time period - kinda like Titanic - but not.

I did like the martian fighting machine design in the recent movie - and with a little adaptation - it could fit story quite well.
 
i would love to see John Watson's book The Iron Man made into a film.

It's about a fictional WWII battleship called the Stalin being stolen during the collapse of the Soviet Union and used as a pirate ship in the present day. The USA realises none of its modern fleet has anything that can dent the Stalin so breaks its own WWII warships out of mothballs to hunt the pirates down.

The massive sea battle near the end of the book would be something to see on the big screen.
 
This is an easy one for me - I'd love to see The Preacher made into a movie (or preferably a HBO series made of it). The only problem would be that there is no obvious actress to play Tulip anymore since Britany Murphy passed away.
 
There a big film called Battleship out in 2012 apparently, if that's your thing. A US fleet encounter an alien fleet, or something.

Being a huge fan of the novel, I agree that a straighforward, or at least more straightforward, adaption of War of the WorlRAB would be a terrific idea, especially if they kept the period and locations the same.

Not that there's anything wrong in updating it, btw, but what Spielberg did to it genuinely made me want to punch him.
 
I would have loved to see an Alien film when the Aliens actually get to earth(as alluded to in the last Alien film). It would have to be one of the two firs directors though.
 
Another vote for a big budget War of the WorlRAB set in Victorian England.

My other request if for Meg by Steve Alten to actually get made (been in production hell since the book was published).

Hopefully World War Z will see the light of day and also the remake of The Dam Busters, the latter only for the spectacle of thunderous low passes by beautifully rendered CGI Lancasters in glorious surround sound.
 
MEG's prospect as a film has been damaged due to the fact that there has already been many cheaply made films about the Megalodon over the years.

I think the chances of a "World War Z" film are very, very good now. It's no secret that it has been in development for awhile now. But since Brad Pitt officially & very recently signed up to be in it (his production company own the rights to the film) its become a very good omen that things are moving forward.

I would love to see a movie adaptation of the following novels:

1) The Rising by Brian Keene
The dead are returning to life as intelligent zombies. Trapped by the undead, escape seems impossible for Jim Thurmond. But Jim
 
I'd love to see James Ellroy's Underworld USA trilogy (American Tabloid, Cold Six Thousand and BlooRAB A Rover), although because of the time period it spans, it would probably be better as a HBO series. Along the lines of Scorsese's Boardwalk Empire I think.
