what model transmission does my 1991 chevrolet #454 engine dully take .?

i have to replace my transmission on my pickup and i would like to know what model it takes it is a 1991 model 3500 chevrolet pickup dooley is it a 400 model ?
 
I think the 4L80E was available in 1991. I'm not positive on this though.

If you have a 4spd, then it would be either the 4L80E or the 700R4. If it is a 3spd, then it would be the TH400.

The TH400 somewhat resembles the shape of the state of Texas. The 700R4 is pretty much square, and the 4L80 is more of a rectangle.

If available, look at your RPO codes found inside the glove box and compare them to a list found online.
 
Either a 700R4, or a 4L60-E, from what I understand they are very similar, its a pretty abundent tranny, very common
