Oh god...please dont rice it out like the guy before me said...

Now then, you have a couple options. spend the entire 12k on the car, or spend less and spend the rest on mods.

99 Civic Si is a great car.
97 Hatchback is of course the standard.
or a mid 90's hatch which some prefer.

those will run between 3-5k
Now onto the mods.

Motor swap, the D series engine in a civic isnt worth much when it comes to modding. So look for a B16, B18, H22, or if you have the money, K20.
All of these are great engines.

then for a quick car, do the basics, Cold air intake, Header, exhaust.

Or Turbo it like me and have a beast:]

Yes, up to the 1999 year because after that they no longer have the double-wishbone suspension (similar to the Corvette) which offers more suspension upgrade options and you can lower them more (i.e. coil-overs) than the newer strut-bases Civics.

Happy Tuner Times!

Try a 99 civic coupe. I have a black one, but can't afford to mod it. got it for $5000. doesnt have much acceleration though... maybe look for a larger engine size or something. i dont know exactly about it.
It looks AMAZING when there is a body kit, big wheels, and a spoiler, though... Saw one on the highway.
