What memory card to use for your wii?

Im not going to pay a premium for a fucking Wii branded Sandisk SD card ( they run like 100 for their 2gb wii versions ) when their regular version is like 29.99.

But, some dood at gamestop told me that when you stick in a non wii branded sd card, itll ask you to format. When you do, you also format the wii's system memory, causing loss of game saves and shit.

I dont want this to happen, so im picking the wii crews brains. Did you use a regular sd card, and did it format the system memory too ( i dont want to lose zelda saves and shit ) or was everything cool, and the gamestop guy is full of shit ( like i suppose, hes just trying to "scare" me into buying a memory card thats 3x the price of a non wii branded one ).

If i can buy just a plain jane one, ill pick up the sandisk 2gb one at zipzoom with free 2 day for 31 bucks.

I used a no-name 2 gb SD card that i bought from Egghead

It had all my digital pics on there and I was able to upload em no problem.
 
Like i asked, and figured, it was some lame ass sales pitch to get me to buy a card that is 5x overpriced.

And i settled on a corsair. I use their memory in my pc, so i figured they are respectable enough.

2gb for 31.08, shipped, 2nd day air
 
haha, that reminds me when i bought my wii at best buy, the lady at the register told me that I basicly needed the replacement plan, because there were a lot of problems with the hard drive. keep in mind this is in the firts 10 minutes of the store opening on the launch day.
They are completely full of shit.
