What makes you love what you do in the military?

I am in total admiration of our men and women in the military, serving our great country. I am forever in debt to you all! -But I'm wondering what you, as servicemen/women really love about the service. I tried to get into every branch there is right out of High School, but I couldn't with a knee replacment and a couple legal problems. (this is almost 15 years ago and now I think I'm a bit old to join-35.)

Again, Thank you for your service!

Lock and load. Keep your powder dry.

Thank you all! -In or out of the service, you are all patriots. I guess I passify myself by being a civilian patriot by being the best civilian American I can.

I believe that Ernest Hemingway put it the most eloquently:

“There is no hunting like the hunting of man, and those who have hunted armed men long enough and liked it, never care for anything else thereafter."

For me, it was the hot bitches and the form-fitting uniforms.

My mother gave me this ass, I must put it to good use.

I kid, I kid. My job in the military is a job I was pursuing before I even joined, so essentially, I'm living my dream goals right now and being paid decently to do so. I initially was going to go into the Marines to make my grandpappy proud, but I knew that I'd be miserable within that organization because I was just not cut out for it.

Another plus is being a good role model for my daughter. I want her to grow up knowing she can do anything so long as she works hard and keeps a clean nose. I came from nothing, and now I consider myself something.

Thanks for being such a sweetheart :)

I am not in the military, but my boyfriend is and I completely agree with you. We are forever in their debt for everything they have sacrified for all of us. I wish there were more people out there like you that truly do support the men and women in uniform to the fullest.

It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

Knowing that I protect the world one keystroke at a time. Seriously! I work on computers 99% of the time. Plus its in my family...My father, aunts, uncles, cousins have all joined, got out, retired, etc. and its kind of like a sworn duty. Plus I wanted to do something with my life other than eat up on the oxygen and play video games for the rest of my life and contribute to society unlike some people I know.

THANK YOU FOR SUPPORTING US! I love getting care package while being deployed...kind of like XMAS in July type stuff.

*Chuckles* What did I totally love about being in the military? Well this was 30 years ago,,,but I was at my physical best when I was in.

I went Signal Corp because I had a 2 year degree in electronics, and I was screwed out of my Warrant Officership- I'm still emotionally scratchy on that.

But you're 35 years old,,,,,,,so, why not become a Sheriff or a Police Reservist? Or why not become a Civil Air Patrol navigator?

Not everyone needs to hop and pop, shoot and scoot, or live by chance, love by choice, or kill by profession.

Also remember that a sucking chest bullet wound is natures way of telling you to relax for a bit- and pain is the feeling of weakness leaving the body!
